Compilation of work

Today I did the photoshopping editing in unclean photos and it took a majorly long time to finish cleaning them as I have to rush for assignment as well. 

I had been pointed to do the team pdf of my group and I did my best in collecting works. This made me realized we are indeed a team with consideration as they all rush and puff their part of work just to give it to me to compile it. I really appreciate the hard work they had done. we even had discussion and guidance by my team leader on how to complete their tasks. 

AND 

These are the finishing work of our team pdf! 

In conclusion, I learned that a team required teamwork and support from each other. In here I know that my team mates work hard and take time out from their busy schedule to complete this task together!

Past days update progression in work development

Today I did some research on how to do photoshop to crop a picture fast and clean way.
We have a lot of pictures taken by my group mates in greenscreen. Although we have to do the cleaning up in photoshop because they did not do a clean photoshoot of green screen properly, I learned some skills in various ways of cleaning up pictures. Such as something below:

I learned this in order to cut out the hair of our character from greenscreen. 

Some of my research done here are based on how to do cut out hair and the character from green screen fast and easy. I did some try outs on these and it did not turn out well as they not not suite what we needed.

I tried this way of editing before yet it did not suit our photographs taken on green screen.

In conclusion, I used the refined edges of quick selection tool to clean off dirty edges and use burn tool to darken the hair of the characters and to highlight the shadow of the pictures. 

Skype Briefing with Salford Lecturers!

After I get some images from my members from graphic design and broadcasting course, I did some try-outs with the source provided and found out that there are some dirt in images and we found the solution of processing the images first before inserting in premier pro is the best solution yet so far. Samples are done and experiment is a success.

After that, we had a Skype briefing tutorial with Mark and Johnny, our lecturer from Salford! Group H have a big heart to let us share their session with us and to use their account for it as well. Thanks to them we are doing this easily :) We had learnt that we should not focus too much on the merchandising item in the project and should spend more on the video creating instead. Posters and images of photographing are shown and minor changes are made and some advice given from our lecturer as well. 

 This is when we have Skype session with them!! 

It made me feel refreshed and determined after meeting them with all the energy they carry with them :)

After the session we stayed back and discuss our plan again for our work division to let all of us refreshed on our work as reminder. This is because we all had assignments to submit all in the same week including this project! Its going to be a tough and hard week for us to take it but we are crushing our grudge to hold this in for our marks and keeping our finger crossed to let everything runs well.

Problem Statement during progress

In the past few days before Skype briefing with my lecturer from University of Salford, my leader and I discovered a problem from our green screen photography taken. The broadcasting student did not do a clean job on the pictures taken of green screen because it is hard to "ultra key" out the character from the screen to be in cooperate in premiere pro. There are heavy shadows and lighting all over and we were thinking solutions to this.

Besides that, the files were corrupted and have problems in assessing it like so:

I did a pretest-run and this is how the picture were being after "ultra key" out in Premiere Pro.

As you can see from both of these pictures, there are heavy shadows and lighting and we have to clean it before applying it again. 

And so we think of a solution to clean this problem and I explained once to them on how it suppose to be after pictures being "ultra-key" out in premiere pro such as picture below:

 After that, we suggested to crop out the pictures in photoshop before applying it in Premiere pro and we could add a twist in it such as below, by applying a white outline to make it more animated :

This is a version where we thought that cartooning the character could make it more interact or similar style to our concept in some parts of our video.

After all the discussions made we decided to go for the style where only crop off green screen and replace it with green layer in photoshop just as below: 

This is because saving the image as a JPEG format is better in resolutions and color compare to PNG.

Hence, we decided to go with this for our photo cropping. 

Teamwork is Required!

Helping out a group mate in doing homework felt pretty good actually ~ And here my friends required help in searching of information for them to include in posters, banners, t-shirts and flyers through our Facebook group. We each did some research and help by giving them back the information and through that I discovered something interesting in Salford especially in FOOD! 

While others focus on the others and I focus on food in Salford. That's all for today.

In conclusion, I learned that I finding research online and make a full use of it made me to being a resourceful person and I learned a lot during this process in project. 

Green screen shooting discussion

We had a discussion about greenscreen these days because the broadcasting student wanted to do take the photo shoot on a day as it is hard to get mini studio booking in our school. As for these few days, we decided to plan out the movement and schedule the arrangement of the video clip too and these are all based on our storyboard:

After that we did some experiment on how to make sure everything goes in doing the sucked in effect to another world with some members and we had a blast in doing so:

This is one of my group members making post for us for discussion purposes and we all burst in tears.

This is the kind of effect we are going to use in our video clip along with the photo shoot like picture above. 

In conclusion, I had learn that we did and discuss together actually are pretty quite fun and less stressful in a way with physical contacts. We had also learned that camera angle could be manipulated to reach a specific view. For example what we intended to do in this discussion is to shoot someone zooming in and being twirled in the spiral background. We took the photo by requiring character facing the wall and make a post just as our member did and it was fun. 

Marketing Strategy planning

We did some marketing strategy planning discussion together and we thought of doing posters, banners, flyers, Facebook page marketing and more.

We used some of these for our logo design and also now we decided to cooperate them with our banner and posters.

In conclusion, we did almost every discussion together and solve problem even advises to each other to keep each other going such as this discussion we did research and sketches and some samples for it together.  

Day 3, 4 and FIVE!

Day 3

This is when we had sometime in deciding our storyline together where we have sometime in improvising our work together. 

A good day to start ahead here after briefing from lecturers in type of work needed along with marking criteria given for upcoming Friday's presentation:

 Group member discussion on type of work we should have including type of film, material used, time management and other equipment needed.

 Dropping down notes during the briefing and to apply it during discussion is essential especially in doing our task together. This is to ensure everything keep on track.

 After our brief discussion for around one hour, off we go to lab area for working time. We are given time to prepare our stories along with short samples for lecturer to consult us on our project that we work on.

This we when the preliminary stage of our logo design in progress where lines, shapes and font type used to represent the style of barcode and the objective behind it:

Notes were made by our leader and co-leader, weng sheng and jasselyn to ensure everything is going on time and of course according to the requirement listed for marking.

The things that we have to show during that day includes storyboard, short clip of samples we did, ideas on merchandising and marketing on banners and event proposed and so on.

we tried to make this is time where my friends from graphic drew the background and I edited the video with my friend help along with the audio searched. The software I used is simply premiere pro for simple movements in here as we are aiming on doing still photography film rather than stop motion film. The original story of our project is an international student wanted to travel to London but ended up in Salford and was convinced to stay in Salford and attending to University of Salford and there he met the guy that persuaded him along the way and end up as best freind. 

After the consultation session, my group members decided to change the idea of the storyline to a whole new ones! The story are twisted and changed to when an international student tap on the University of Salford website, he was sucked in an unreal world (where we insert background with drawings) and his journey in meeting new friends there and to decided to stay in UOS. 

Day 4

On this day, we had been briefed and reminded on the progress we were making to complete our project progression before presentation on the next day. 

This odd looking diagram is an excellent guide for us to follow and keep track on our work in time in order to get better results.

These are some samples given for us to expand our knowledge in campaign and to take it as reference to improve our project.

And of course taking notes is essential for me because to refresh my memory in anything learnt on that day. Which on that day includes: style sheets requirement, presentation requirement and research needed in the project we going on with.

After the briefing, students are off to classes to develop on samples and things required for presentation that was near the edge! My members and I were given different type of workload and we work together as a team to finish it!

This is what I did which is improvising the logo to a better one and these are some samples did here in different style:

 I had added in some color to bring out the uniqueness of logo and of our team. The name 321 represents 3 student from different courses, 2 students per course, and work as 1 team! 

We decided on the color of blue for outline and first column "3" because it represent peace, green color for fresh idea and yellow for passion in doing our work. 

This is what my friend drew according to samples and I colored it to enhanced his work as background!

After finish coloring and briefing to end the day, I continue to work on the extras in lab with my fellow members to accomplished the work and  passed it to others for presentation slide preparation.

and here comes                                         DAY 5!!

everyone was nervous and excited at the same time to share and exchange ideas among each others. I was super nervous that I even pronounce typography to photography! It's an embarrassment but fun time as well! 

This is when my friend presenting the idea of storyboard and moodboard. 

The presentation end with applause and with some gentle reminder on the hints given for our work on upcoming 3 weeks!
